Hello everyone! For my first makeup look of 2017 I have paired a simple golden eye with a bold lip. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone more to get the ball rolling with my New Year Goals, which if you fancy reading you can here. I really love this makeup look and the purple lips really make it more out there whilst not being too far out the zone!
To start off this look I primed my eyes using Urban Decays Primer Potion and setting it with a skin coloured powder. The eye shadows I’ll be using are all from the NYX Avant Pop palette, I first took the deep brown shade on a fluffy brush and focused it on the outer corner of my eye. Blending it into the rest of the crease.
Then taking the gold shade on a flat brush I patted it from the inner corner to where I placed the brown shade, blending them together. Using a flat brush again I used the champagne shade on the very inner corners of my eyes, blending it into the gold shade. I wanted the gold shade to really pop so using MAC Fix + on a flat brush I added more of the gold shade from the Avant Pop palette in the centre of my eye.
Moving onto the face I first cleaned up any fall out from the eye shadows under my eyes before priming my skin with The Body Shop Tee Tree Pore Minimiser. For brows I filled them in using Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Sculpting and Setting in the shade Brownie Points as well as setting them with the gel on the other end.
To conceal under my eyes I first used a small amount of Urban Decays Naked Skin Colour Corrector in Yellow and blended it out before using NYX HD Concealer in 01 Porcelain and blending it out. To set my concealer I used NYX HD Finishing Powder. For mascara I used Seventeen Falsifeye HD mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
For blush I used Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in the shade 15 Seductive Pink. To contour my cheekbones and forehead I used Makeup Geek Contour Pan in Bad Habit and to highlight my cheekbones, eyebrow bone and inner corner of my eyes I used Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop.
To finish off my eyes I decided to add some of the brown shade I had used on the outer corner of my eye on a small brush on the outer part of my lower lash line, blending it out to the middle. Finally to set everything I used MAC Fix+.
I wanted to try a different shade on my lips so I used NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Havana. I picked this up whilst in London last month as purple is my favourite colour and I want to get out of my comfort zone more. I have naturally quite pigmented lips so on me it applied a bit patchy so I ended up applying two layers.
I apologise for the photos, they aren’t the best as it was getting dark and I have a new camera I’m still getting to grips with!
Overall I love this look! It is so simple and easy yet the bold purple lips really adds an edge to it. I am loving this purple lip, after all it is my favourite colour and I’m obsessed with wearing it! I will definitely be picking up more unusual lip shades, especially from NYX as they are so affordable and I love their formula!
